This is the Worzen family tree. Tracing the lineage from Royas Worzen, the hero of this game, to Lark Worzen, the great wizard who sealed away the evil dragon Keela in the past.
 本作の主人公ロイアス＝ウォーゼンから過去に邪竜ディルギオスを封印した大魔法使い・ラーク＝ウォーゼンまでの血統を辿ることができる。

About the spelling of each character's name / 各キャラの名前の綴りについて

Some characters have different spellings of their names between versions, and players of the FC/NES version in particular may find this article somewhat strange. Please refer to each character's page for how spellings have been standardised on this site.
 一部のキャラクターは機種によって名前の綴りが違い、特にFC/NES版のプレイヤーにとって本記事は違和感があると思われる。
名前の綴りをどう統一したかについては各キャラクターのページを参照のこと。

Royas, Lyll, Xemn, Maia / ロイアス・リルル・ゼムン・メイア

The relationships between Royas, Lyll, Xemn, and Maia are clearly stated in the game manual: for Royas, Lyll is the younger sister, Xemn is the father, and Maia is the mother.
 ロイアス・リルル・ゼムン・メイアの関係はゲームのマニュアルに明記されており、ロイアスから見てリルルが妹、ゼムンが父、メイアが母である。

Dawel, Geera / ドウエル・ジーラ

"I am Geera. The password You need to play again will be asked from me."
 「今度またプレイするために必要なパスワードは、このジーラから聞きなされ。」
 "I am a Dawel. If you let me know the password taught by Geera, You can continue the last time."
 「ジーラばあさんから教えられたパスワードをこのわし、ドウエルに聞かせてくれれば、前回の続きができるぞ。」
The game manual mentions Royas' grandfather Dawel and grandmother Geera, but it does not specify whether they are the parents of Xemn or Maia.
 ゲームのマニュアルにはロイアスの祖父ドウエル、祖母ジーラも登場するが、彼らがゼムン、メイアどちらの両親であるのかは明らかにされなかった。

Kadokawa guidebook

In the guidebook published after the game, "Famicom Marukatsu Series 5: Dragon Slayer IV" (Kadokawa Shoten), it was revealed that Geera is Xemn's mother.
Moreover, In Dragon Slayer 1, SAVE and LOAD are positioned as the ultimate magic. They too are descendants of the great wizard.
 なお、ドラゴンスレイヤー1ではSAVEとLOADは究極の魔法と位置づけられている。彼らもまた大魔法使いの子孫なのだ。

Lark, Pochi / ラーク・ポチ

The game manual states that Pochi is merely a pet of the Worzen family, offering no explanation as to why he usually takes the form of a dog yet can transform into a monster. As for Lark, his name remains unknown, with Geera telling Royas and Lyll, "He's your great-grandfather."
 ゲームのマニュアルではポチは単なるウォーゼン家のペットで、なぜ普段は犬の姿をしていてモンスターに変身できるのかは説明されない。
ラークに至っては名前が不明で、ジーラがロイアスとリルルに「おまえたちのひいおじいちゃんなんだよ」と語っている。

Pochi
Their true identities are revealed in the prequel "The Unknown Legend of Lemia", depicted in the same Kadokawa guidebook as above.
 彼らの正体は上と同じ攻略本(角川書店)で描かれた前日譚「知られざるレミアの伝説」で明らかにされる。
Pochi was originally a monster controlled by Keela, but is now Lark's friend. To protect his family, he usually takes the form of a dog.
 ポチは元々ディルギオスに操られていたモンスターで現在はラークの友人であり、彼の家族を守るために普段は犬の姿になっている。
 Geera referred to Lark as "my great-great-grandfather!" and it seems this was later adopted as the official setting.
 ジーラはラークのことを「私のひいひいおじいさんだよ！」と言っており、後付けでこちらが正式な設定になったと思われる。

Ending cretdits

This line was suddenly brought back in the official gag manga ‘Falcom Gakuen’.
This was not mentioned in the manual and suddenly appeared during the ending, apparently shocking many players.
 公式ギャグマンガ「ファルコム学園」にて突如蒸し返されたこのセリフ。
説明書に記載が無くエンディングで突然表示されるのでショックを受けたプレイヤーがたくさんいたようです。

To summarise, during the early stages of this game's development, the player characters were not family but adventurers who had gathered with a shared purpose. They became a family during development, so Lyll is undoubtedly the child of Xemn and Maia; the staff roll is a remnant from the early development phase.
 要約すると、このゲームの開発初期はプレイヤーキャラクターたちは家族ではなく、同じ目的をもって集まった冒険者だった。
開発中に家族になったのでリルルは間違いなくゼムンとメイアの子供であり、スタッフロールは開発初期の名残。
